Stage 0[]
Stage 0 has you with other players traversing the beige corridors of the backrooms. Light buzzing is always prominent and the entire maze is beige in color. You can choose to work together with the other players to find the exit together. There is an optional "secret" exit with the appearance of a black portal that leads to the "seed" level or the "punishment" level.
Stage 1[]
The second stage introduces entities (names pending), black humanoid creatures that are similar to the player. If the player touches them, they will take a chunk of damage. The player makes an audible shriek when dying, alerting others where an entity might be. When close to an entity, you can hear your breathing get louder. You can use this to hear if an entity is near.
The second stage is also completely dark with few light sources. All players have a flashlight that provides light for a short distance which might make it harder to see entities. Teamwork is strongly advised because of the minimal lighting and being in a bigger group increases your chance of survival. This is the first level where sprinting is enabled. However, sprinting is limited. To recharge your sprint bar, you must stand still.
Stage 2[]
The third stage is single player and . Using right click / left trigger you can point the flashlight a longer distance away, but lose the light around you. Entities in this level also act unpredictably. Some entities will completely ignore you, walking down corridors instead of chasing you.
Stage 3[]
Stage 3, appears to be a less claustrophobic version of stage 2. After entering Stage 3, you need to go down a small staircase. Next, you will need to open a door leading to maintenance tunnels (the "E" button on the keyboard). When you are already in maintenance tunnels, you will have to find two (2) power generators. They are disconnected (Which is blocking the exit), and to get out, you have to plug in their plugs to electric outlets and find the emergency door. If you did everything right and you were able to run away, you'll be awarded with a badge: "Sophisticated Emptiness". You have only 15 minutes to escape this level, if you don't make it on time, you will be send to Suitably Lucid Room, and obtain a sperate badge: "Suitably Lucid".
Notably, there is no entities on this level, which makes it safe to explore. This level is also Singleplayer, just like Stage 2.
Bad Ending[]
The Bad Ending, is a location that you are sent to if you haven't finished Stage 3 on-time. There is nothing to do here. The only thing you see is a table in front of you, a door and a lightbulb, swinging from side to side. When enter the room, you will obtain the badge "Suitably Lucid". There is nothing to do here except to leave the game.
